Framed "Create" Sign

Slowly, verrrry slowly, I'm trying to make my craft space cute. I just get so distracted by other projects. Or my children. Or Hunger Games.

But yesterday I actually made something for my craft space and I think it's super cute!

I started out with a frame from Wal-Mart. It was $1.50 and has no back or glass. I was okay with that.

Then I used my glue gun to make a design along the front of the frame.

Then I spray painted the whole frame. That's how I got a fun little design on the frame.

Then I used some burlap and through freezer paper stenciling, stenciled "create" onto the burlap. I added a couple of bows for good measure and there ya have!

I just hot glued the burlap to the back of the frame. I love the colors!

(Sharpie) Funky Easter Eggs

There are so many fab Easter egg decorating ideas out there and it took me a while to decide which way I wanted to decorate my Easter eggs.

I knew I wanted to be able to use them for an Easter egg hunt, which meant they'd have to be able to open.

I tried duct tape, but that was a fail

I finally just started drawing on them with my Sharpies and they turned out real cute!

This is a great opportunity to hone your artistic skills! Trust me, I don't have ANY art skills (my hubby sure does) and this wasn't hard for me. Just a teeny bit time consuming.

Just pull out your Sharpies and get to work!

I'm so excited for a little Easter egg hunt for my sweet babies!

Don't those fun colors make you happy?

Destination: Cutesy Monday (#10)

So, this weekend I finally immersed myself in the Hunger Games. I just couldn't resist all the hype.

See, I got my BA in English and the WHOLE reason I did so was because I thought, "Wait, I can go through college reading novels and call it a major? Sign me up."

I've always loved to read and I really enjoyed the first book of The Hunger Games. It was a little dark/creepy at first and I was surprised it was a young adult novel. However, by the end I was shocked...by how amazing it was! It was intense and dramatic.

I just can't imagine the 2nd novel being anywhere near as crazy as the first one was!

Anyway, I'll try to get some crafts posted this week, if I can pull my nose out of the books :)

I'm SOOO excited to see what you have all been up to!

Guest Post: Aimee from It's Overflowing

I can't even tell you how excited I am to have Aimee here from It's Overflowing! She's one of my sweet bloggy friends, even though her blog is way awesomer than mine!

She's here to talk about her wonderful blog and to share some helpful tips for smaller blogs. Enjoy!
****************

I am SUPER excited to be posting at Destination: Craft!  Kathryn always links up the BEST projects at my weekly party and has a beautiful blog....its a TOTAL blast that she invited me to share on her blog!!!  I'm Aimee Lane and I blog at It's Overflowing:  endless DIYs and loving every moment!
I'm mommy to three Sweet B's and married to my Best Friend ~ a creative photographer and studly handyman!  Together we're DIYing our 1950s original ranch-style home in Fort Worth, Texas.  Life is full of designing, decorating, power tools, photography, home schooling, crafting, cooking, baking, organizing and shopping for deals! We're striving to keep things simple so we continue LOVING every moment!

Growing up, I was one of four girls.  I was totally destined to love all things that involve girly fun!  I love style and fashion, fancy parties and inspiring home decor.  I love flipping through magazines and shopping with the girls.  From an early age I've been rearranging furniture and changing up wall displays {you would die if you saw all the holes in my room growing up - since then I've learned of Spackle and it's practically my best friend}!

As girly girl as I am, I absolutely love getting my hands messy with home projects!  In every project we do, I'm my hubby's right hand guy gal! Recently, my favorite projects involve updating our 1950s house.  It smelled musty and was pink from the floor all the way up to the ceiling when we signed on the line.  Ugh!  At several points along the way we've both had moments that we wondered what we were thinking, but at the completion of each project, there's such a rush of adrenaline, it keeps us motivated for more!  Most recently, we've been busting it in the kitchen.  We've added...flooring, appliances, trim, paint and accessories.  It has gone from total drag to total chic!!!  Cooking is definitely so much more fun now!

I think blogging is the best thing EVER!  It's the perfect outlet for stay at home moms to keep creative juices flowing.  I love that through blogging I've gotten to know other bloggers that otherwise I may have never met and I can't even imagine life without these friendships!  Recently, I've opened my blog up to advertising, more than anything to help offset the price of crafty and decorating...we all know even when we're shopping for the steals and deals...it's not cheap.
I've decided Social Spark is my FAVORITE blog advertising company from what I've used so far.  They are AWESOME to work with, they come up with great leads and as "publisher" I get to put my own flair into my work.  LOVE it!  In fact, I think if I ever need to work full-time, I'll go into advertising...what can I say...writing posts about products I find interesting doesn't seem like work.  If you have any questions at all about my experiences with advertising, definitely let me know, I love helping my bloggy friends!!!  If you're new to blogging, you'll probably be surprised to find tons of helpful bloggers...what can I say!?!?  Bloggers are social little creatures, right!!!
In the months to come, I plan to continue with lots of DIY projects, tons of recipes, and my simple bloggy photography course.  I also have a few series I'm working on...one of them on the topic of homeschooling.  I get tons of questions about our experiences, but haven't taken the time to discuss it so I'm real excited to chit chat about that a bit...not like constantly, but maybe over the course of a few days!

Thanks so much Kathryn for inviting me to guest post on your blog!  I definitely feel like building friendships and letting natural growth takes it's course will allow a blog to become exactly what it's intended to become...whatever that maybe {my blog included}!!!  I love hearing what other bloggers' goals and dreams are for their blogs so if you have a second, definitely leave a comment below with your ideas!!!  I'd love to brainstorm your ideas...totally inspiring for myself and other bloggers!!!  Oh, and I'd LOVE to have you over for a visit at my blog, too!!!  You can find me with new posts at least once every single day at itsoverflowing.com.

Spring Flower Pots

With as warm as the weather has been, it almost feels like we're skipping spring. But I'm not letting that happen! I love spring and all its beautiful colors. I don't care how warm the weather is, I'm celebrating SPRING!!

This was the project I submitted for the Hardware Store challenge for American Crafter. Instead of going to the wood or the nuts and bolts, I went to the garden section. I picked these terra cotta pots up for about $1.25 each, got some pretty flowers, and grabbed some fun spray paint and I was on my way!

I'm crazy and didn't pin the website where I got the stencil. But I DO remember she got it from Tatertots & Jello, so start there! It was the first time I've done a fun stencil like this and I'm excited to keep stencilin'! I used a Martha Stewart paint for the stencil and I was super happy with the result. I love me some Martha.

Aren't these pots so spring-y and fun?! They were an inexpensive yet festive way to add a little spring sweetness to my (ugly) porch.

Happy SPRING!!!

Sweet Bakery (1st) Birthday

My SWEET baby girl turned one this month! I still can't believe it.

In my defense, she makes it very easy for me to baby her, since she's still the size of a nine-month-old. (She's in the 4th percentile for height).

I've been SO excited to throw her a first birthday party. I've done 3 boy birthdays so far and the idea of getting to throw a baby girl party was almost too much for me.

No, really. The day before her birthday party we threw my son's birthday party at our house, so instead of trying to do 2 parties back to back we decided to have Gracie's party at a bakery.

Okay, okay, enough talkie. On to the pictures. And just as a fair warning, there are a LOT of pictures.

I wish my apartment looked like this bakery.
The favor boxes!
Lovin' those white cabinets!
This was before all the guests came with their presents

And the other side of the Year Timeline
Some of the plates, cups, utensils, etc.

Water! (You have to have it with all the sugar we were consuming)
Look at this amazing birthday cupcake! So pretty! I loved having the birthday party at Maxie B's bakery. We let everyone pick whatever they wanted and we picked up the tab at the end...it was a big hit!
I made a little ribbon embellishment for the high chair, just to add a little pizzazz!
She wasn't too sure about that candle!
The lovely ladies who brought THEIR lovely ladies to the party! (Look at Gracie's tights...how embarrassing)
That day was so crazy but so fun! I ran so many errands in the morning that I didn't have time to do my hair! Ah! I was also sooo tired, hence the bags under the eyes. But it was so worth it for that little sweet face.

Destination: Cutesy Monday (#9)

Hello again!

This week is going to be amazing,  I just know it! I have lots of fun projects and, you know, stuff lined up.

So, in other news, I'm officially out of my two craft competitions. One one hand I'm disappointed. I really wanted to make it further. On the other hand, I'm relieved that it's over. Now I can vote and sit back and create whatever I want whenever I want. It was fun while it lasted. I really want to encourage you guys to keep voting, too!

I'm going to post about my projects this week. Stay tuned!

Time to link up! I love you gals!
