Sassy Apron

My friend from California recently came out to visit me.

This is a big deal, since I live on the other side of the US. We had so much fun together. A few weeks after she left I realized her birthday was coming up and I wanted to make her something fun. I knew she likes zebra print and hot pink and she likes to cook for her and her husband.

How about a Sassy Apron!!

I used THIS tutorial from One More Moore and it was a pretty good tutorial. I would definitely recommend it. And you could whip one of these out in an afternoon!

Who wouldn't want to cook with this sassy thing on? :)

I added some fun tulle for a little pizzazz.

This would be a fun present for Mother's Day, too! Happy sewing!

Crock Pot Lovin'

While we were at my hubby's grandparent's house for Easter, they gave us a Three Crock Pot slow cooker-thingy. It's huge. And awesome. However, I haven't put it anywhere yet because it's big! (And we live in apartment).

I might as well take advantage of it since it's out. I looked for some slow cooker recipes and here are some tasty looking ones that I found! I'll cook 'em up and let you know how they taste.

from Duchess of Fork

from A Whisk and A Prayer

from Framed Cooks

from Crock Pot Ladies

from Eat at Home

from Just a Pinch Recipe Club

from Crockin' Girls

from Moms with Crockpots

from Pillsbury

from Culinary Cory

from the Kitchn

How do I choose?? I'm tempted to start with that delicious looking cheesecake :)

What's YOUR favorite slow cooker recipe?

DIY Mason Jar Soap Dispensers

I've seen some cute Mason jar soap dispensers around blogland. I had the boring ol' dispensers from Target, you know, the $5 ones. I was tired of them. I wanted something pretty.

After looking at several of different ways to make these, I decided that the process is pretty easy!

So I'm here today showing YOU how to make these little pretties.

So so easy! Ready?

Supplies:
- Mason Jar (I got mine from Hobby Lobby)
- Drill
- Hot glue gun
- Needlenose pliers
- Soap pump (I bought two soap dispensers from the dollar store & took out the pumps)

1.
Mark the middle of the top of the jar (I just eyeballed it)

2.
Drill the hole!

3.
If you have needlenose pliers, use those for this step. I, however, do not have have needlenose pliers so I used whatever that is in the picture :) Regular pliers? Anyway, just start pulling on the metal and it'll bend easily. Pull a hole large enough for your soap pump.

4.
Put the soap pump through the new hole and secure it on the underside with hot glue.

5.
Put the top back together and there ya have it! A more vintage looking soap dispenser!

Sprocket Pillows & Goals

I've been thinking a lot lately about what's important to me. Let me show you what I came up with:

- Religion
- Family
- Health
- Self Improvement

I think it's important to make goals in each area and I did at the beginning of the year, but I'm re-addressing my goals and thinking about what matters most.

I would say that this blog falls under my "Self Improvement" category. Which means it ranks 4th in importance. Don't get me wrong, I love this blog. There is a lot of hours represented in each project shown. Plus, my followers are like my friends. However, I have two beautiful babies and an amazing husband and ME who I have to think about.

I honestly don't know how some bloggers can make posts every day while giving attention to their families and home. I'm not Super Woman. I can't do it all. But I'm going to post when I can and that will just have to be enough for me. But I love each of you and hope you stick around for the projects I make!

Sorry about the rambling, on to the Sprocket Pillows!!

Sprocket Pillow

I have recently discovered the amazingness that is Cluck Cluck Sew. I am desperately in love with beautiful quilts and this blog delivers! While roaming around her blog, I found a tutorial for Sprocket Pillows. And I knew I needed one. Like, right then.

Here's one Allison, from Cluck Cluck Sew, made:

The tutorial is SO SO easy. I promise. If you have a sewing machine, you can make one. Pinky swear.

So go now! Go make one! Here's how mine turned out:

I LOVE it! So cute! Thank you so much Allison at Cluck Cluck Sew!!

Some in process pics:

And look how cute the end result is! Love.

Oh yeah, and those petal pillows? Also from her. Tutorial here.

Sweet Stitches Hand Towels

The art of cross stitching is lost, I say.

LOST!

Okay, that little rant is over.

These hand towels were my last project for Creative Bloggers Got Talent. I suppose I should have chosen a different project, since I knew deep down that the art of cross stitching has gone by the wayside, but I thought these were soooo cute.

After I had stitched these, I sewed them onto a hand towel and then added a ruffle embellishment on the bottom.

You know, I don't think people know how long it takes to cross stitch. Let me enlighten you: it takes FOR-EVER.

Oh well. If you want to try your hand at cross stitching, it is really easy, just really time consuming.

By the way, I got the patterns for these guys from Wee Little Stitches.
